We are very thankful for the way the Daylight Conferences went and are now concentrating on the way forward. We face a number of challenges, but each week brings news of encouraging responses to the word of God. One thing that came across very clearly at the conferences was the power of prayer and how the Lord has blessed and used the Daylight Prayer & Support Groups’ regular prayer for Daylight.
Whilst the Bristol conference had the same core content that we had at Chelmsford, the attendees were different and we were able to have more contributions from volunteers.
David Lewis, Daylight’s Regional Director for Wales and the south west spoke very powerfully on The Biblical Mandate for Prison Gospel Work at the start of the day, and Sim Jemmett, who is a Daylight mentor and Pastor in Training at Emmanuel Church in Bristol closed the day reminding us that the Lord can make us fishers of men.
Some of the material from the day is available on the website, including a recording of Paul Philpott’s talk on Prison Chaplaincies. Paul is Chair of Daylight’s trustees and has been a prison chaplain for over 20 years.
