“The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14)
Our December Newsletter is available to download here. As we come to the end of another year, we give thanks to God for continued opportunities and encouragements.
After the last couple of years of restrictions, it has been good to see prisoners keen to return to more regular Sunday services and Bible studies, as well as having others attending for the first time. Following one service recently, a prisoner commented to one of our chaplains, “Last Sunday was really good. Why can’t you come every week?”.
Chaplaincy work has continued to provide opportunities to get to know individual prisoners on the wings, and to offer support to those who have lost loved ones throughout the year. Many prisoners are keen to discuss and learn more about spiritual things, and one of our chaplains was particularly encouraged by a conversation with a prisoner recently who said, “I really want to learn about Christianity while I’m in prison. I’ve messed up my life and I want to get things on a proper basis”.
Our Letter Writing ministry has also continued to be appreciated, with many prisoners letting us know how much it means to have this regular contact from a Christian. Responses to our regular written messages have also been encouraging, and it has been good to hear from prisoners who are not only reading these themselves but are also sharing them with others.
Over coming weeks, many prisoners will be attending Advent and Christmas services and receiving seasonal written material. Please pray that the Lord will use this contact to encourage those who are believers, and that others will be challenged to think about where they stand spiritually.
Thank you for your continued interest and prayerful support throughout 2022.
