December Newsletter 2013

“Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift”. (2 Corinthians 9:15).

Here is our latest Newsletter.

Thank you for your prayerful interest and practical support for Daylight’s work during 2013. We have only been able to operate with persistent prayer to a gracious God and the consistent and generous giving of the Lord’s people.

O how the grace of God amazes me!

It loosed me from my bonds and set me free!

What made it happen so?

His own will, this much I know,

Set me, as now I show,

At liberty.

(Emmanuel Sibomana)

As we look back on the year we are so thankful for many gracious answers to our prayers; we have seen prisoners converted under gospel proclamation and built up; we have seen offending Christians restored and strengthened; and we have been able to help ex-offenders in building a new life outside prison, finding a church and seeking to live for the Lord who has saved them.

Christmas is an especially difficult time for prisoners, as it has such strong family associations. Some of our Daylight Prayer & Support Group members plan to be at Prison Carol Services; pray that they may be able to speak a word in season to the prisoners they meet. Also, Daylight staffers and associates will be taking Sunday services over the holiday period; may they know the Lord’s clear blessing upon his truth as they seek to proclaim it.

Rejoice that in 2013 we have seen a marked increase in our activities, through our mentoring programme and through new prison opportunities, and new individuals and churches coming in to strengthen our hand. As I write this we are running Christianity Explored Prison Edition in three prisons and two others are asking us to agree dates for a January start. Thank God that CEPE brings the gospel even to those who cannot read and write!

As we look forward to 2014 we pray that the Lord would continue to be with us, and that the Daylight Conferences in March may be greatly used to strengthen our hand still further.

Yours in Him,

Steven St John

Chief Executive
