Daylight’s strategy is to build on our current strong position that God, by His grace, has granted to us.
We are financially viable and recognised:
by churches as enabling them to fulfil their gospel mission to local prisoners and by HMPPS (His Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service) as making a sustainable difference to the lives of prisoners and their families.
Therefore under God, and using our experience and chaplaincy networks, we are working to establish bridgeheads into more prisons and to encourage local Bible-believing churches to undertake ongoing gospel work in these establishments. We also seek to assist identified released prisoners into local churches where they will be discipled; where appropriate into future ministry.
For our 20th Anniversary year and beyond we have adopted the following Strategic behaviours….
We will clarify our vision and the way it is understood by refreshing our brand.
In September 2023 we began a review and update of our Brand and presentation, to Churches and to Prisons. We are excited about the new look website that launched over Easter 2024.
We will enable proper support and growth of our operation by investment in good processes and technology.
During 2024 we will be moving our supporter and volunteer data onto a new CRM to better enable us to keep in touch with those who pray and give and better manage those who serve.
We need to employ further help in the office. Over time jobs done by others have been passed back to the office; in order to create the opportunity for growth and to deal with the increased burden of legislation, we now need to increase the team.
We will broaden our network of connected Churches by attending Conferences and running events.
We hope to send delegates and have information stands at a variety of conferences, raising the profile of the ministry and recruiting supporters and volunteers. We are considering how, when and where to run Prison Awareness Days in local churches.
We will better connect and enthuse our staff team and volunteers by revised working practices.
We are looking at how and when our teams and volunteers pray, meet and fellowship together, we are keen to improve this with a national conference, regular local meetings and video calls.
After their success we intend to repeat the Zoom meetings we held in Prisons Week 2023 and the supporters meetings we held on Zoom in January 2024. It is a blessing to volunteers to hear how we are upheld in prayer.
We will write a new “gold standard” Daylight Chaplain job description and begin the appointment process.
Our desire to offer Volunteer Chaplains to HMPPS has been well received by Prison Chaplaincy Headquarters, but now the hard work begins! During 2024 we want to work out the details and begin to employ Daylight Prison Chaplains. The legal and financial underpinning of this needs to be sorted out so that we can ensure as we take the gospel of our LORD Jesus into Prisons His name is held in the highest regard by all.
We will celebrate the 20th Anniversary with appropriate digital content, publications and a gift for every prison.
Our gift to Prison Chaplaincies will, we hope and pray, encourage the individual chaplains, bless and enable them in their ministry and remind them of what Daylight has to offer. Please pray for this initiative and consider supporting us as we send a resource box to each UK prison.
